{ABOUT DENAE}

I get goosebumps. You should know that about me. Yep. That’s how I know it’s right. The right fabric, the right color combination, the right arrangement, the right idea… I can be in your kitchen, at a fabric showroom or in my workroom, but when I get the goosebumps, I know it’s right.

Sure, I have an interior design degree, but I can’t help it. I LOVE interior design. It all started when I was about 6 years old playing with my Barbies. I would spend hours upon hours designing and decorating rooms, sewing bedding and making every accessory.

Growing up in Santa Clarita, located in Southern California, I always dreamed of decorating the shop windows that lined Main Street in Disneyland. Much of my inspiration started with my mom, who embodied style, elegance, creativity and hospitality. My craftmanship and DIY skills are owed to my dad, who always taught me that anything a boy could do, I could do better. Upon graduating from Saugus High School, I attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. In 1987, my mom opened a gift and home décor store called Cobblestone Cottage, located in my hometown. During my years of working for my parents I found a love for customer service. Working at Cobblestone Cottage allowed me to expand my design and decorating talents, whether it be in the store or in customers’ homes, on buying trips or creating custom floral arrangements. In 1995 and 1996 I was a featured interior designer on two custom homes showcased in the Christmas Home Tour. The following year, in 1997 I was hired to be the window display designer at the Valencia Town Mall, while it wasn’t Disneyland it was still a dream come true.

So, how’d I end up in rural Texas? That’s a very long and romantic story….you’ll have to wait for the book. I married Mike Carroll the summer of 1998. He’s an athletic trainer, which means I now understand the importance of a first down and get excited about high school football. We have a son, Nolan, who is away studying at the University of Arkansas…Go Hogs! And then there’s our creative, outgoing daughter Laney, who is a student at Graham High School.

Along with my interior styling, I’m also a licensed REALTOR. As a multimillion-dollar producer with Keller Williams Realty my clients benefit from my home staging and interior styling. If you are looking to buy, sell or invest in real estate, please call me.
